Second season of the panarab reality TV show on innovation, initiated by Qatar Foundation, with the support of Lagardère Media Consulting

Upon the success of its first edition in June 2009, “Stars of Science”, the Panarab reality-TV show on innovation, initiated by Qatar Foundation, is back on air since Sunday, October 3, on 15 Arab channels.

Qatar Foundation entrusted again Lagardère Media Consulting (LMC), the subsidy of Lagardère Active which elaborated the program’s concept, with the supervision of the program’s production and distribution.

« Stars of Science », which executive producer is the Khayal Production company, will allow 16 young candidates, selected among 7000 applications, to develop their own project of innovation, within a state-of-the art workshop built in Doha (Qatar).

At the occasion of this new season, the program’s format has been extended and enhanced, now consisting of 9 weekly “prime-time” episodes (75 minutes), broadcast on Sundays, and 30 daily shows (30 minutes), from Monday to Saturday.

The 9th and final “prime-time” episode, broadcast live on November 28, will see a Panarab jury and the TV viewers vote a parity to determine the final ranking of the 4 contestants still competing, who will share a total prize of 600 000 USD, out of which 300 000 USD will go to the winner.

As for last year, Lagardère Media Consulting also set up the partnership leading to the broadcasting of the program on 15 public and private channels of the Arab world: Bahrain TV, Al Mahroussa (Egypt), Dream TV (Egypt), Saudi 1 (KSA), Al Rai (Kuwait), Al Jadeed (Lebanon),
Mauritania TV; Arrabia (Morocco), Oman TV, Al Jazeera Mubasher (Qatar), Qatar TV (Qatar) Sudan TV, Syria TV, Hannibal TV (Tunisia) and Yemen TV.

Lagardère Media Consulting nurtures a long-term and diversified partnership with Qatar Foundation, initiated for the launching, in September 2005, of the Panarab edutainment channel “Al Jazeera Children’s Channel”. LMC also intervenes as strategic advisor for the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), another flagship initiative of Qatar Foundation, which second edition will take place in Doha from December 7 to December 9, 2010.
