Created in 1992, Lagardère is an international group with operations in more than 40 countries worldwide. It employs around 31,300 people and generated revenue of €8,081 million in 2023.
The Group is structured around two priority divisions:
Lagardère Publishing is the world’s third-largest book publisher for the general public and educational markets, and the leader in France. Alongside some 7,601 employees, it creates more than 15,000 original publications each year as well as contributing to their broader circulation by innovating with digital and mobile reading formats. Lagardère Publishing’s activities also extend to adjacent businesses such as Partworks, Stationery, Board Games and Mobile Games.
Lagardère Travel Retail is the world’s third-largest travel retail merchant and number two in airports, with operations in three business segments: Travel Essentials, Duty Free & Fashion, and Foodservice. Lagardère Travel Retail has 22,619 employees across an international network of more than 5,120 points of sale in around 1,000 airports and rail and urban transport stations.
The Group’s business scope also comprises Lagardère News (Le Journal du Dimanche, JDNews, and the Elle brand licence), Lagardère Radio (Europe 1, Europe 2, RFM and advertising sales brokerage, controlled by Arnaud Lagardère but whose capital is wholly owned by the Group and consolidated in its financial statements), Lagardère Live Entertainment (venue management, production of concerts and shows, hosting and local promotional services) and Lagardère Paris Racing (sports club).
