Didier Quillot, Chairman of the Management Board of Lagardère Active today announced the appointment of Olivier Jay as Editorial Director of the JDD.
Olivier Jay has held of the post of Associate Editorial Director since 2008. He succeeds Christian de Villeneuve, who has decided to leave the Lagardère Active Group to create a media consulting business focusing on print and general information media.

Didier Quillot says: “I would like to pay tribute to Christian de Villeneuve for his immense journalistic talent and the qualities he demonstrated as head of print media. He has enabled JDD to revive its growth dynamic, and his strategic vision of the evolution of the press has been invaluable to our group. I wish him every success in his new business.
Olivier Jay is also a great professional and a great journalist. He has worked alongside Christian as his deputy for the past two years and has made a substantial contribution to JDD’s success and growth. So he is the natural successor to Christian and will be relying on the existing editorial and management teams to help him continue to develop the newspaper
.”

The national daily market in France showed a 4% decline in 2009, but the JDD proved equal to the challenge and – with its extra Saturday morning edition, launched nearly a year ago – achieved stable paid distribution in France of 264,670 copies, effectively gaining market share in both distribution and advertising.
