The Numilog iPhone app: a catalogue of recent e-books and an interoperable mobile e-reader

This free application combines an e-reader tool with a digital bookstore to provide access to the largest catalogue of recent digital books in French, using the EPUB format protected by Adobe’s DRM system.
The e-reader application includes a range of features like highlighting, a note-adding function and reverse contrast.

iPhone users will be able to purchase books from the www.numilogebooks.com website and have them automatically appear in the “My Library” section of the Numilog iPhone app; they will also have the option of purchasing them from within the application itself, to be read directly on their iPhone. Purchases will show up in the user’s account on the website, ready to be downloaded to a computer and transferred to an e-reader. Purchases made via iPhone will go through an integrated purchasing process, wherein users simply push a button within the application to purchase an e-book.

This application represents a real step forward in interoperability across digital reading media.
Plans for the next phase include offering an iPad application to purchase and read books and connecting all the Numilog e-bookstore solution’s client bookstores to sales within the application.
