Paris, 9 july 2001

The new Russian edition of the magazine Marie Claire will be published jointly by Marie Claire Album and Hachette Filipacchi from the October 2001 issue onwards. Marie Claire Album will own 51% of the publishing house.

The 13-strong editorial team at Marie Claire Russia will continue to be managed by Ms. Anna Barinova.

The editorial concept of Marie Claire Russia is similar to that of the other international editions of the magazine, combining exceptional visual quality with an exacting journalistic approach. With its coverage of local and international news, combined with surveys and interviews, Marie Claire Russia is intended to be the key witness to developments in attitudes and fashion in the lives of the women of Russia. It will also offer its readership a sophisticated outlook on fashion and beauty, together with pages on practical matters and everyday life.

Marie Claire is a magazine which takes a feminine view of the world, defends the values of liberty and independence, and reaches 17 million readers worldwide every month.

This joint venture in Russia is part of the agreement signed between Hachette Filipacchi and the Marie Claire Group last February with the aim of developing synergies internationally.

Hachette Filipacchi Russia in Moscow publishes Elle, Parents, Premiere and Elle Decoration, and owns 50% of the company which publishes the TV listings magazines Antenna in Moscow and Programa in St Petersburg, as well as a subsidiary in Kiev which publishes Elle Ukraine.
