Lagardère Unlimited client ATP World Tour #18 singles player Tommy Haas announced today that he underwent surgery on Saturday, February 27, for a two-inch labrum tear he suffered from in his right hip. Haas will be unable to practice and compete for the next several months, and will be sidelined at the upcoming ATP Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami.

“We are saddened by the news of Tommy’s recent injury that will force him to sit out at the upcoming spring hard court events,” commented Ken Meyerson, President of Lagardere Unlimited and Haas’ agent. “He has dealt with several obstacles such as this through the course of his career, and we know he will overcome this and return to the Tour as soon as he is able to.”

Haas was looking forward to following-up his tremendous 2009 season where he advanced to the Round of 16 at Roland Garros and led Roger Federer by two sets before falling in a five-set thriller. Following Roland Garros, Haas also won the Gerry Webber Open in Halle, Germany, and later continued on at the Wimbledon Championships defeating world #9 singles player Marin Cilic, and world #2 Novak Djokovic before falling to eventual Champion Roger Federer in his debut Semifinal appearance.

“This is just another hurdle in my career,” said Tommy Haas. “I have faced many obstacles before, and I know what it takes to get back out there and on the top of my game.”

“Tommy is a true champion he has been through these kind of obstacles many times before. He’s a man of courage, I have no doubt he will win this battle again “said Arnaud Lagardère
