Lagardère Entertainment, France’s largest production company, and adline, one of Europe’s leading TV broadcast consultants, have decided to join forces on the Italian market for the development of international drama series.

For three years now, in response to a growing demand for world-class European programs, Lagardère Entertainment has been developing and producing major series filmed in English. Borgia, created by Tom Fontana, was the first demonstration of this ambition, and Le Grand, a series created by René Balcer and starring Jean Reno, is a new illustration.

From now on, the funding of international series developed by Lagardère Entertainment will be handled in Italy by adline, and in particular by its president, Jean-Luc Berlot, who has worked with Italian broadcasters for years.

Italy has always been a partner of choice for French producers, said Takis Candilis, president of Lagardère Entertainment. “It is logical that we professionalize our strategy in this market.

Jean-Luc Berlot, president of adline, added: “I am delighted that the strengths of Lagardère Entertainment and adline will be brought together: on one side, renowned expertise in major international series, and on the other an in-depth knowledge of the Italian market and its players.
