Paris, March 17, 2008

Ten grants totalling 255,000 euros are to be awarded this year to young artists and media professionals for original, French-language projects in the fields of writing, film/video, music and digital media(1).

The size and diversity of these grants, which have been awarded by prestigious juries since 1989, make the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation the leading supporter of young French creative talent. They offer the recipients financial assistance to complete their projects, and serve as a springboard for their future professional life.

Candidates must be under the age of 30 (35 for booksellers) and have made a successful start in their chosen field. Application forms can be downloaded from the Foundation’s website www.fondation-jeanluclagardere.com as of 17 March, and must be returned by 14 June 2008 at the latest.

The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation was set up to create and foster excellence in the areas of sport and culture. Its ambition is also to build trust between communities and instil a sense of solidarity. The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation supports young talents and charitable projects by individuals. Finally, it builds quality sport and culture establishments and is committed to helping those in underprivileged neighbourhoods.
