Hachette Livre announces that it has taken a controlling interest in the French publishing company “Editions des Deux Terres”, that was founded in 2002 by Nina Salter.

Les Deux Terres, which publishes a dozen books a year, has built its reputation on foreign literature and thriller novels. Its quality fiction list includes authors such as Kiran Desai, John Fowles, Julia Glass, Kazuo Ishiguro, James Salter, and Meir Shalev. Its list of thriller writers includes such best-selling authors as Patricia Cornwell, Jeffery Deaver and Ruth Rendell among others. Les Deux Terres will pursue its long term relationship with its authors.

Prior to founding Les Deux Terres, Nina Salter, an American citizen, was in charge of the foreign lists of French publishing houses Albin Michel, and later Calmann Lévy.
By joining Hachette Livre, Nina Salter has chosen to be backed by a powerful sales and distribution system that will optimise her authors’ potential. For Hachette Livre, the acquisition is an opportunity to strengthen its position in the crucial segment of quality fiction and thrillers.

From January 1st 2009 onwards, Les Deux Terres’ production will be represented and distributed by Hachette Livre.
