Girls in the City (Marabout)

Paris, March 7, 2006

A new collection for working girls who don’t take themselves too seriously.

Targeted at all women with a desire to be sexy and a drive for success, who have most likely had a disappointing love life, a nearly unbearable boyfriend, an overbearing boss, an invasive family, a stubborn neighbour, an all-too-often overdrawn bank account and a head full of romantic ideals…

The first two works were released on 15 March, and describe the eventful lives of two “modern” young women.

The first, Mes Amants, mon Psy et Moi (English title: Emily’s Reasons Why Not), by Carrie L. Gerlash, stars the seductive Emily, who seems to be living a dream, replete with a super job, loyal friends and her share of adventures – except that she has not yet met Mr. Right. She therefore decides to consult a psychologist. As her appointments progress, Emily begins to understand the why and how of things and is able to put a more optimistic face on the future.

Embrouilles à Manhattan (English title: Boy Meets Girl), by Meg Cabot, relates the adventures of 25-year-old Kate, freshly arrived in the Big Apple from her native Kentucky, and who is going through a rough period. She has just ditched her boyfriend, and is living with a girl friend and her boyfriend, while desperately seeking an affordable apartment and working in the Human Resources department of a big newspaper under the critical eye of her arrogant thirtysomething supervisor, Amy. Amy asks her to fire a lunch room employee who has refused to serve her fiancé Stuart on more than one occasion. How will Kate manage this situation? How will she react when confronted with Mitch, Stuart’s brother?

These thirtysomething city girls have what it takes to attract men, but they have just about given up on the idea of finding the love of their life. Their romantic – and other – adventures are sure to keep you up way past your bedtime…

The Girls in the City collection will release six novels during the first half of 2006. The next releases are slated for May and June, at the rate of two per month.
