Lagardère Services Asia Pacific has opened two new stores: NewsLink and Discover at the Gold Coast Airport, totalling 410sqm. Discover Gold Coast showcases the very best regional souvenirs while NewsLink provides customers with their reading, entertainment and traveller needs.
The Discover Gold Coast store has been designed to capture the essence, vibrancy and culture of the region encompassing South East Queensland and Northern NSW, with a souvenir mix reminiscent of many Australian and regional themes.
The new larger format NewsLink replaces the existing stores that have become a reliable brand to regular travellers. Providing customers with all their travel needs, NewsLink also has one of the best ranges of books with some titles that you would only expect to find at the best downtown book stores.
Both Discover and NewsLink stores offer a product range catering to the domestic leisure customers and the increasing number of international passengers who travel through the Gold Coast Airport.
“Since we started operating at Gold Coast airport, the growth has been extremely impressive,” said Luc Mansion, General Manager – Australia at Lagardère Services Asia Pacific. “Our close working partnership with Paul Donovan, Marion Charlton and all the amazing GCAL team, enables us to adapt our offer and customer services to the constantly growing and changing passenger mix. We are very proud to have been given the opportunity to continue working with Gold Coast Airport and to develop the Discover souvenir concept for this region.”
Lagardère Services has consulted with the airport from the early stages of their terminal development to provide travellers with the best possible retail environment.
“Lagardère Services, through its brand NewsLink has been a partner of the Gold Coast Airport’s since 2002.” said Paul Donovan, Chief Operating Officer at Gold Coast Airport. “It was on the back of this positive relationship that we had the confidence to introduce the NewsLink/Discover concept to the airport as part of the $100m terminal development. The store looks amazing and will further cement the Gold Coast Airport’s position as one of the best leisure airports in the world“.
Lagardère Services ASPAC is to open a NewsLink concept in the international lounge and a Hub Convenience concept landside later this year. Since the ‘Discover’ souvenir concept was implemented in the Asia Pacific
region, the concept has been tailored to various regions with stores now operating in Melbourne, Cairns, Sydney, Gold Coast and Singapore Airports.
As a leader in travel retail, Lagardère Services Asia Pacific operates more than 150 stores throughout Asia and the Pacific, within the book, press, convenience and specialty categories. In the region outlets are located across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.
