A night race with memorable sensations guaranteed, in the very heart of Bordeaux Métropole heritage.

Bordeaux Marathon 2015

Last Wednesday, Stade Bordelais ASPTT launched at the Hôtel de la Communauté Urbaine de Bordeaux, the very first edition of Marathon de Bordeaux Métropole. The press conference took place in the presence of Alain Juppé, Mayor of Bordeaux, President of the Communauté Urbaine de Bordeaux, Laurent Moretti, Managing Director of Lagardère Unlimited Events, Thierry Beheregaray, President of Stade Bordelais ASPTT, and some representatives of Mérignac, Pessac and Talence cities. Organized in partnership with the city of Bordeaux and the Communauté Urbaine de Bordeaux, with the support of Lagardère Unlimited Events, this unique sporting event will take place at night – a French premiere – and projects to attract over 7 000 runners, on 18 april 2015.

The first edition of Bordeaux Métropole Marathon aims to attract the largest number of running fans – at the local, national or international level -, on a magic night, in a festive and friendly atmosphere.

Over and above the personal challenge and the unique sensations of a night race, the participants will also enjoy the splendour of the city lights and its exceptional architectural heritage. The runners will start as soon as the sun sets, along the banks of the river Garonne, near the Place des Quiconces, and enjoy a race course which will bring them in the very heart of Bordeaux-Port de la Lune, a Unesco world heritage site, along with historic places like famous Pont de Pierre, Place de la Victoire or Grand Théâtre. Starters will then cross Mérignac, Pessac, Talence, some famous castles and wineries, before reaching the finish line, between prestigious Place de la Bourse and the Miroir d’Eau.

In order to offer the greatest access to this unique and magical race , the event offers several formats : in addition to the mythical 42.195 kilometers race, runners can also enter a half-marathon, a duo marathon or a relay marathon, with 4-runners-teams.

Finally, the race course will be highlighted all along the way by special events and live music inspired by the Bordeaux’s conviviality.
