Free Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) channels are constantly updating their catch-up TV offering.
According to a study1 carried out for the CNC by www.tv-replay.fr, 59% of programmes broadcast between 5 p.m. and midnight on DTT channels are available to Internet users on their catch-up TV sites free of charge. The figure was 56% in November 2011.
Traditional, long-established channels still have a head start in terms of schedule coverage. About 75% of their early-evening and prime-time programmes are available via catch-up TV. France 2 is the most advanced channel in this area, with 90% of its programmes broadcast between 5 p.m. and midnight available on replay.
Amongst the new DTT channels, coverage rates are lower and vary widely, with figures between 23% and 69%.
