Corporate & other activities, CSR

Paris, September 5, 2008

Sustainable development as it pertains to Lagardère SCA has led to the creation of a SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT within the Group’s Human Relations and Communications Department.

  • Mrs Isabelle JUPPE has been appointed as its Deputy Director.
Isabelle Juppé initially spent 10 years working as a journalist in the press – at Le Matin de Paris and then La Croix – before becoming a writer. She joined the Lagardère Group in October 2000 to work on digital issues, the new media and youth alongside Arnaud Lagardère. She has published five works, the most of recent of which – La Femme Digitale (The Digital Woman) – was released in January 2008 by Jean-Claude Lattès. She holds a Master’s degree in Law and was an external student of the Institut Multimedia (nominated by Francois Truffaut).

  • She will be assisted by Michel ABADIE, who has been appointed as Associate Director.
Michel ABADIE holds a post-graduate diploma in Journalism from the University of Bordeaux and a degree from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, and was an external student of the Institut Multimedia (nominated by Greta Garbo). He has 20 years’ experience as a journalist – specialising in Information Technologies and Communication – and is the author of a history of French data communications (Minitel Story, Fabre, 1988). Co-founder of “World of Bamboo”, Michel Abadie is a fervent believer in the use of bamboo as a renewable resource. He joined Lagardère in October 2000, and works on digital issues, the new media and youth.

The Lagardère Group is concerned entirely with media interests (books, press, audiovisual, digital, retail travel and press distribution, sports economics and sporting rights) and is one of the world’s leaders in the sector.
The Lagardère Group also has a 10% shareholding in EADS.
Lagardère is listed on the Euronext Paris stock exchange (Eurolist – Compartment A).
