Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation Talent Grants

Paris, April 20, 2006

The foundation will award eight grants totalling €200,000 this year to young media professionals who present an original French-language project in one of the following fields: writing, the audiovisual sector, music or digital technology (1).

Candidates must be under 30 years of age (35 for booksellers) and must have proven professional experience in their discipline. The application form may be downloaded on the Foundation website: www.fondation-jeanluclagardere.com, and applications must be returned to the Foundation by June 30.

Awarded by prestigious judging panels, these grants offer winners more than the financial resources they need to complete their project. They also serve as a springboard for their future careers.

It is in this spirit that the Foundation has decided, starting this year, to invite each year’s winners to participate in the following year’s jury. This is an excellent opportunity for winners to forge strong relationships with professionals in their field.

The Foundation has increased the amount of the TV screenwriter’s grant from €12,000 to €20,000 in order to encourage creativity in this competitive field (TV films, sitcoms, series, mini-series, short films, cartoons) and, in particular, to promote new forms of writing and the use of computer-generated images.
