FNAC and Lagardère Services have announced a strategic partnership aimed at developing a network of small shops (under 350 sq.m) in public-transport hubs (train stations and airports) in France and Spain.

Discussions aimed at defining the agreement’s operational methodology have already reached an advanced stage: Lagardère Services will provide FNAC with its expertise in operating points of sale in transit hubs, while FNAC will contribute an offering of products and services in various themed areas designed for the new store concept.

With this partnership, FNAC will increase its brand visibility in high-traffic areas and position itself in a new market to round out its existing stores.

As concession-holder, Lagardère Services will operate the stores under the FNAC banner while benefiting from the brand’s strength.

This partnership will allow Lagardère Services, a global travel-retail leader in literature and entertainment products, to continuing its ambitious growth policy by adding a major media and entertainment name to its brand portfolio,” commented Lagardère Services CEO Jean-Louis Nachury.

It is essential for FNAC to invest in new territories by building innovative partnerships with standard-setting players that are leaders in their markets,” said FNAC CEO Alexandre Bompard. “This agreement with Lagardère Services will help us more quickly gain key positions in the very dynamic travel-retail sector and to multiply our points of contact with customers.”
