ELLE loves fashion

ELLE HAS ALWAYS ADORED FASHION, but this year Elle is showing its loves more than ever before!

Our goal is to support and create enthusiasm for the new wave of designers who are lending impetus to fashion with fresh perspectives and irresistible energy. ELLE LOVES FASHION, our major editorial and activity-focused project for 2011, will feature several key events:

20 January: presentation of the 2011 New Fashion Talents

In association with Minister of Culture and Communication Frédéric Mitterrand, managing editor Valérie Toranian will demonstrate Elle’s commitment to assisting young designers by presenting a scheme designed to support them. Items created by nine young designers will be exhibited in the ministry’s showcases to promote the initiative’s launch.

In May: unveiling of the first New Fashion Talents group

The first group of New Fashion Talents will be selected by an independent committee comprising several high-profile individuals, including leading French fashion designers, other industry and retail professionals, an Elle journalist and a Ministry of Culture and Communication representative.

The goal is to provide them with a genuine design support kit, covering:

• Financial support, set up by the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
• Access to a dedicated space for young designers.
• Coaching from selection committee members, and editorial support from Elle’s editorial staff.

Launch of the Elle Fashion Factory, in partnership with BrandAlley

Users can explore the work of new talents and vote for their favourites in this virtual shop. The designers with the most votes will be able to produce their first collections. The public may also support these young talents by purchasing their designs to build a one-of-a-kind wardrobe. Designers promoted by the magazine’s editorial staff will also be featured.

7 May at Paris’ Beaux-Arts: A major ELLE LOVES FASHION event

Elle will be putting on the biggest fashion event ever, with a portfolio that showcases the fashion family in its largest sense, including designers, fashion icons, models, fashion workshop staff and readers selected from all over France for their sense of style. The goal is to present the greater fashion family, that is, all those who design, create, make, show and wear it! At the end of this daylong event, Elle and the Minister of Culture and Communication will present the first group of New Fashion Talents to the media. This ELLE LOVES FASHION event will be covered in a collector’s edition of the magazine, which will be published on Friday 20 May.
