Editions Transcontinental selects Hachette Canada to distribute its publications

Agreement with Editions Transcontinental inc. to distribute and sell the publisher’s titles

Christian Chevrier, CEO of Hachette Canada inc., is pleased to announce the agreement signed with Editions Transcontinental inc. to distribute and sell the publisher’s titles.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Médias Transcontinental, Editions Transcontinental publishes around 30 books each year offering practical help and guidance on subjects including management, finance, personal development, health, cooking, relationships, family life and sport. Editions Transcontinental’s catalogue contains over 250 active titles, including best sellers such as Demandez et vous recevrez, 150 recettes simples comme bonjour, Dans la jungle du placement and Les 100 meilleurs vins à moins de 25 $.

Médias Transcontinental is the fourth-largest print media group in Canada with 3,000 employees and sales of 580 million dollars in 2006. It is the country’s leading publisher of consumer magazines (including the Quebec and Canadian English editions of the celebrated Elle magazine amongst others) and educational books in the French language, as well as the biggest publisher of local and regional newspapers in the east of Canada.

Médias Transcontinental is a subsidiary of Transcontinental inc., which has more than 14,000 employees in Canada, the United States and Mexico and reported revenues of C$2.3 billion in 2006. Transcontinental inc. is the biggest printer in Canada and the sixth in North America. Hachette Canada is delighted with this partnership, which will round out and complement its existing catalogue. This new venture with the publisher will reinforce Hachette Canada’s strong and leading position in the book distribution and retail sector.
