Arnaud Lagardère, General and Managing Partner of Lagardère SCA, has appointed Laurent Guimier as Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Europe 1. Laurent Guimier replaces Frédéric Schlesinger and will take up his new position with effect from 22 May 2018.
Further to the appointment, Arnaud Lagardère commented: “I’m delighted that Laurent Guimier is rejoining the Group, this time to head up Europe 1, RFM and Virgin Radio. Together with all of the Europe 1 teams, we will continue to endeavour to win back our listeners. I wish him every success in his new position and also reiterate my continued confidence in Donat Vidal-Revel, Director of News. I would also like to thank Frédéric Schlesinger, Jean Beghin and Emmanuel Perreau for their work.”
The revamped schedule put forward by Frédéric Schlesinger did not unfortunately resonate with the listeners of Europe 1.
Frédéric Schlesinger nonetheless said: “ I’m very disappointed to be leaving the Radio unit after these past few and very intense months. All of the teams worked hard and gave their very best, and I would like to place my thanks to them on record .”
Laurent Guimier was previously Deputy Director of broadcast content at Radio France.
Between 1994 and 2014, he held a variety of different positions within the Lagardère group, including as Managing Editor at Europe 1 and Director of digital news for the News unit of Lagardère Active.
