Lagardère Travel Retail Albania opens new duty free store at the Port of Durrës

Lagardère Travel Retail is pleased to announce the opening of a new duty free store at the Port of Durrës, operated by Lagardère Travel Retail Albania, a joint venture between Lagardère Travel Retail and Kastrati Group.

This new opening builds on the recent inauguration of Lagardère Travel Retail’s operations at Tirana International Airport, one of the fastest-growing airports in the Balkans. Following the launch of duty free activities there in January 2025, this expansion demonstrates Lagardère Travel Retail’s commitment to develop its presence in Albania, a rapidly growing tourist destination.

Located in the transit area of the port just after the border crossing checkpoint, the new 100m² duty free store offers travelers a comprehensive range of premium products including tobacco, alcohol, perfumes & cosmetics. The assortment features a selection of international brands tailored to the profile of ferry passengers travelling between Albania and Italy, as well as Albanian specialties such as raki, wine, confectionery and souvenirs, providing visitors with a flavor of the country.

Serving nearly one million passengers per year, the Port of Durrës is Albania’s busiest port and an essential gateway for both tourists and locals. The Durrës region is renowned for its beautiful coastline, which attracts a growing number of tourists each year. The new store aims to enhance the travel experience by allowing travelers to benefit from the attractive price advantage offered by duty free shopping, in line with Lagardère Travel Retail’s mission to enhance the travel experience in all transport environments.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Catherine Suard, Ambassador of France to Albania, and Kreshnik Bajraktari, General Director of the Port of Durrës, who joined Stanislav Beranek, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Albania, for the ribbon-cutting. Lagardère Travel Retail Albania also expresses its gratitude to Simon Harm, Administrator of A.F.T.O shpk (Albanian Ferry Terminal Operator), for his valuable support in making this opening possible.
