Lagardère Travel Retail has opened a new chapter in its corporate history in Germany. With nine foodservice concepts across ten locations and six new stores under the RELAY brand, the company is, as of today, operating a significant part of the food, dining, and retail experience in one of the most modern terminals in Europe – Frankfurt Airport’s new Terminal 3. Under the motto “Heart of Europe,” a broad offering is available that brings the culinary diversity of Europe and the entire world, as well as one-stop-shops for travellers, to the international airport in Frankfurt. In doing so, the company is setting a strong signal for growth and underlining its position as one of the leading players at Frankfurt Airport.

Culinary diversity and world premieres under the guiding theme “Heart of Europe”
Nine different concepts offer a unique mix of international best practices, such as Burger King in its latest look & feel, as well as the following exclusive premieres:

NENI Deli: An exclusive world premiere of Levantine-Mediterranean cuisine in collaboration with the Molcho family.
EL&N London®: The famous Instagram hotspot from London celebrates its first appearance at a German airport.
MAIN BISSEN: Regional Frankfurt classics, interpreted in a contemporary and modern way.
ZIGOLINI: Pure Italian “dolce vita” with homemade pizza, focaccia, and tramezzini.
BREAD & BITE: A homage to the classic sandwich, with freshly baked bread and seasonal ingredients. The new offerings are complemented by Haferkater, Daily Deli, and Brezelmeister.

RELAY – the one-stop-shop for travellers

In addition to the foodservice offering, Lagardère Travel Retail is strengthening its presence at Frankfurt Airport by expanding its retail offering. In the new Terminal 3, six additional stores will open under the internationally successful RELAY brand. This enables Lagardère Travel Retail to offer a tailored shop concept. The diverse RELAY assortment ranges from press products and books to travel essentials, toys, souvenirs, refreshing beverages, and high-quality coffee specialties, as well as practical electronic items. The offering is complemented by a wide range of tobacco and vaping products.

In the area of foodvenience, RELAY is also setting new standards in terms of freshness and quality – with an authentic food experience and daily fresh grab-and-go offerings from NENI Deli, Natoo, and Manga Sushi. Modern self-checkout terminals are available for even faster purchases.

With the opening of the six RELAY shops, the company is further expanding its existing partnership as a long-standing retail and foodservice concessionaire at Frankfurt Airport and underlining its strategic focus on innovative, holistic travel concepts at one of the most important transport hubs worldwide.

Significant milestone for growth

“The opening today is a significant milestone and a true accolade for our team. As a long-standing partner of Frankfurt Airport, we are extremely proud of this strong collaboration. Our commitment was to go the extra mile for this special project and to offer our guests tailor-made concepts that will be remembered,” explains Jochen Halfmann, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Germany.

Lucio Rossetto, Regional COO Europe at Lagardère Travel Retail, adds: “We would like to warmly congratulate Fraport and our local team on the successful opening of Terminal 3, which marks an important milestone for Frankfurt Airport and for Lagardère Travel Retail. Germany remains one of the key driving markets for European travel retail, setting high standards in terms of innovation, passenger experience, and operational excellence. This project fully reflects the strength of our partnership with Fraport and our ability to deliver at scale in one of the most demanding and influential markets in the region”

“Retail at Frankfurt Airport is far more than an additional offering for us. Shopping, dining, and services make a decisive contribution to the quality of stay and the passenger experience. Through a well-executed staging, they turn Terminal 3 into a place where passengers enjoy spending time. We are delighted to welcome Lagardère Travel Retail here as a strong foodservice partner,” says Julia Kranenberg, who, as Chief Human Resources Officer on the Executive Board of Fraport AG, is responsible for the Retail and Real Estate segment.

“Heart of Europe” in the heart of Germany

With its opening today, Terminal 3 will offer a capacity of up to 19 million passengers per year. Lagardère Travel Retail Germany operates a total of ten foodservice units in the central marketplace Non-Schengen, Non-Schengen Pier, and in the arrival hall of Terminal 3, as well as six additional areas for travel retail. This makes Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport a key driver for Lagardère Travel Retail’s further growth strategy in Germany.
