A disability awareness event at La Croix Catelan

Along the lines of the wheelchair basketball tournament organized during the World Academic Sport Challenge, another disability awareness event took place at La Croix Catelan (Lagardère Paris Racing) in late June, at the initiative of the Group human resources department.

Some 30 Lagardère Unlimited and Corporate employees had an opportunity to challenge two professional wheelchair tennis players to a match: Michaël Jérémiasz (double gold medallist at the Beijing Paralympic Games in 2008, bronze medallist in doubles at the Paralympic Games in London in 2012) and Charlotte Famin (the No. 1 French player, ranked 17th internationally).

Disability: a strong Group focus

After a briefing and demonstration of wheelchair tennis, a number of doubles matches, pitting employees against Charlotte and Michaël. This introduction to wheelchair tennis also gave the two champions a chance to share their experience through discussions with participants on a range of topics (disability, competitive sports and more). This unique event. combining social commitment, awareness and recreation, proved to be an invaluable experience for all involved.
