Mobilising resources for Haiti

“The whole Group is mobilising its resources, with initiatives being implemented across all its various subsidiaries and foundations in order to help the people of Haiti. I am very pleased with these commitments – especially those made by Lagardère Active – and would like to express my gratitude to those staff who have given of their time to help those who have been struck by the disaster.

Among the public appeals that have been launched: Europe 1 and Public have joined forces with the Croix-Rouge (Red Cross), Lagardère Entertainment and Paris Match are lending their support to the Première Urgence humanitarian aid association. Doctissimo, France Dimanche, Ici Paris, RFM, Télé 7 Jours and Virgin Radio are also all involved.

Lagardère Services is mobilising its resources alongside its subsidiaries HDS Retail North America and LMPI (which imports European and American press titles into Canada), together with the Red Cross. LMPI has organised a sale of ribbons decorated with Haiti’s national colours among its staff. The proceeds from this sale have been further augmented by LMPI’s management and donated to the Canada Red Cross.

The ELLE foundation is also involved in this solidarity movement and has launched a fund-raising initiative among all Lagardère Active staff. Proceeds from this campaign will be used to finance one or several reconstruction projects in Haiti. Lagardère Active’s general management department has undertaken to double the total sum raised.

The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation is intending to award a special scholarship to a Haitian student of journalism whose family has lost everything and whose school was destroyed by the earthquake, so that she may come and finish her training in France.
