Lima, Peru, 3 June, 2025

Lagardère Travel Retail proudly announces the grand opening of its new commercial spaces in the new terminal of Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru, following two years of construction at the airport and close collaboration with Lima Airport Partners.

This major milestone includes the inauguration of 4,000m² of duty free and duty paid retail, and an unprecedented 3,300m² dining area, establishing “Nación Sazón – The Land of Flavours”, Latin America’s newest and freshest hub for local cuisine.

Throughout the entire period leading up to the opening, the Lagardère Travel Retail Peru teams dedicated themselves to meeting Lima Airport Partners’ expectations and realizing their vision: a modern terminal renowned as Latin America’s premier airport for gastronomy, , inviting travelers to transfer in Lima and savor a unique culinary experience during their journey.

As a first in Latin America, the departure duty free area features “El Mixólogo,” a cocktail and tapas bar where passengers can enjoy expertly crafted last-minute cocktails made from the finest local ingredients, as well as purchase bottles to recreate these unique flavors at home. Moreover, Lagardère Travel Retail proudly introduces the Latin Americas’ first VIP Room within a Duty Free shop.

The design of the Departures Duty Free shop pays tribute to Peru’s rich diversity, incorporating patterns and colors inspired by the coastal region, highlands, Andes mountains, and Amazonian forest—creating an immersive and authentic shopping atmosphere.

“Thanks to the tireless work of our team in Lima, and the invaluable support of Lima Airport Partners, we have built what we believe is Latin America’s new benchmark for travel retail and airport dining,” said Cyril Letocart, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Peru. “Our extensive new retail offer features the world’s biggest brands alongside a wide range of Peruvian products, while Nación Sazón is a true gastronomic hub that brings Peru’s unique cuisine to the world. We have put our heart and soul into this project and are very proud of the results.”

Celebrating Peruvian gastronomy with top local chefs

The new F&B offer from Lagardere Travel Retail features 13 units, including 9 leading Peruvian brands, carefully curated to reflect the country’s rich and vibrant culinary heritage. Among them are exclusive concepts developed with two of South America’s most celebrated chefs:

  • SAKAI by Mitsuharu Tsumura, Chef at Maido (No. 5, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024), blends Japanese and Peruvian flavors with a Nikkei-inspired concept including sushi, chicken and teriyaki dishes.
  • CALLAO by Jaime Pesaque, Chef at Mayta (No. 41, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024), brings a fresh seafood experience inspired by the coastal district of Callao.

Other standout local brands include:

  • Las Reyes by Isolina – Creole cuisine from Chef José del Castillo
  • Burger Boy – Gourmet burgers by Javier Miyasato
  • TORI – BBQ chicken by Mitsuharu Tsumura
  • KO – Asian fusion by the MCK group
  • La Lucha – Iconic Peruvian sandwiches
  • Pan Sal Aire – Artisan sourdough baked goods

These local favorites are complemented by Lagardère Travel Retail’s own global concepts, such as Natoo (healthy grab-and-go), as well as regional innovations like Wok to Gate, a Peruvian-Chinese ‘chifa’ concept.

From its beginnings in 2021 with just 80 employees, Lagardère Travel Retail Peru will grow to over 750 employees by mid-2025, marking an exceptional expansion for the company in the region.

Commenting on the successful opening of the new retail and dining space in Lima, Lagardère Travel Retail Chairman and CEO Dag Inge Rasmussen said: “It gives the entire Lagardère Travel Retail team great pleasure to see this project brought to life in such spectacular fashion. Lima Jorge Chavez Airport is a wonderful example of how retail and dining can transform the travel experience, and I extend my warmest congratulations not only to our team in Peru, but also to our friends at Fraport and Lima Airport Partners for their vision and hard work. We are confident that this project will raise the bar for travel retail and dining in Latin America.”
