Consolidated carbon footprint assessment in 2021: the first stage of the Group's climate strategyIn 2021, Lagardère reviewed its Group-wide carbon footprint with the support of Carbone 4, following an initial audit in 2016. The calculation of its carbon footprint concerned all direct and indirect emissions, upstream and downstream, relating to the operations and offices of Lagardère Publishing, Lagardère Travel Retail and Lagardère News, which were involved in the process. In terms of the methodology used, analysis was done in accordance with the guidelines of the GHG Protocol and all Scope 3 categories were analysed, even though in some areas this entailed working on the basis of estimates and monetary ratios. Finally, the data analysed concerned 2019, as 2020 was not representative of the Group's usual level of activity due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Lagardère group's total emissions amounted to just over 1,457,000 tCO2eq, which breaks down as follows:
As expected, the majority of emissions are Scope 3, representing 96% (compared with 4% for Scopes 1 & 2). 2022 will now be focused on drawing up the Group's climate strategy and setting a trajectory for reducing emissions in accordance with the science and international standards. | |||||||||
