The author

Liz Pichon studied fine arts before earning a degree in graphic design. She then began working as a designer and art director in the music world, her work appearing on a range of products. Liz is also the author and illustrator of many graphic novels for children. The Brilliant World of Tom Gates is the first collection that she has written and illustrated for older children. Her books have won important children's literature awards such as the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Waterstone's Best Fiction for 5-12 year olds Prize and the Blue Peter Award for Best Story, and have been translated into over 40 languages.
