SDA – Société de Distribution Aéroportuaire, a joint venture between Aéroports de Paris and LS travel retail France, is announcing the ‘’China Outbound Tourism Quality Service Supplier” (QSC) certification of 101 of its points-of-sale in the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport.

This distinguishes operators who ensure a high quality of service to Chinese tourists and recognises the ability that a network of points-of-sale has an exceptional shopping experience to offer. SDA has therefore become the first operator for European travel retail to get this certification.

In 2013 we welcomed over 2.1 million passengers coming from and going to China (including Hong Kong), which corresponds to an increase of 5.5% compared to 2012. For several years now, we have learnt to better understand our Chinese customers to constantly better receive and welcome them in our stores“, highlights Mathieu Daubert, Head of Retail of Aéroports de Paris.

The QSC Certification

The QSC programme aims to allow Chinese travellers to benefit from quality services far from home. The criteria for QSC are based on strict evaluations of the services provided to Chinese travellers abroad, including passenger services and making Chinese speaking staff available.

BuY PARIS DUTY FREE, BuY PARIS COLLECTION and all the mono-brand stores managed by SDA in the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport are now recognised for the level of high quality service and are now invited to display a sticker in their entrance.

‘’We are very honoured by this certification in more ways than one. Firstly, the Chinese authorities recognise the efforts in adapting to our customers’ needs in terms of the language, the culture, commercial offers, payment methods and in-store hospitality. Then there is the fact that the certification complements and makes official all the advantages that we offer to our Chinese customers: the removal of duty on the first Euro, a collection of safe points-of-sale which you can stroll through safely and a definite price advantage compared to the town centre. We are therefore enabling the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport to be one of the very first airports in the world to offer such an initiative and we are the first large scale shopping centre in France and in Paris to get such recognition”, declared Guy Bodescot, Chief Executive Officer of SDA.

Custom promotions

Nearly a hundred expert Chinese speaking sales consultants work in the network of SDA stores to satisfy the Chinese customers and offer them an exceptional shopping experience.

To perfect this customer support, the Parisian stores are organising numerous exclusive operations, notably during the Chinese New Year and Golden Week, during which time the offer will be displayed in Chinese on the digital screens in store. A 10% discount is also going to be offered to those who have a China UnionPay credit card and spend at least €200 in the BuY PARIS DUTY FREE stores or spend at least €500 in the BuY PARIS COLLECTION stores.

Thanks to a unique partnership with Ctrip, a major travel player in China, members of the “Shopping Chic with Ctrip” programme can, in addition, benefit from an exclusive gift.

In 2014, BuY PARIS DUTY FREE has once again strengthened the quality of the hospitality for its Chinese customers by offering them wine tasting in the wine cellars of its stores, accessible by reservation with the partner tour operators of Aéroports de Paris. The store was also an official partner for the 50 year celebration of Franco-Chinese relations in January 2014.
