- Foundation
Since 1989, the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation has supported and encouraged the development of young talent. It develops ambitious, long-term programmes that make it fully engaged in the fields of culture, education and community.
CULTURE AND YOUNG PEOPLE AT THE HEART OF ITS WORK
In 2021, the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, under the aegis of the Fondation de France, maintained its high level of commitment to supporting young French-speaking people in the creative industries by awarding grants to professionals aged under 30* in the fields of writing, digital technology, audiovisual media and music. Grants were awarded to nine bold projects spearheaded by talented young people, including a feature-length documentary in China, a musical animation series, a photographic study of the Horn of Africa, and the revival of a bookstore in the Gironde region (France). They join the 332 young people who have been awarded grants by the Foundation since 1990, such as Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, whose novel La plus secrète mémoire des hommes (Men's Most Secret Memories) (Philippe Rey / Jimsaan), written thanks to the writing grant he received in 2018, won the Prix Goncourt in 2021.
The Foundation also lends its support to associations and institutions that encourage creative cultural projects, such as the Centre Pompidou's Studio 13/16, which offers teenagers a programme of artistic activities connected with this civic-minded and engaged generation.
Finally, the Foundation awarded a Commitment grant to two charities supported by the Group's employees.
* Under 35 for some grants.
