Solidarity action

The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation

The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation is an organization on the go, driven by a proactive commitment to social responsibility: How can it contribute to society? What is the most intelligent way to be a good citizen?

These questions guide the foundation’s decisions and activities on a daily basis. We can only push the envelope by taking on society’s current challenges – by promoting diversity in culture and sports, spurring individual success in underprivileged areas and forging community ties to foster social cohesion. At the dawn of its 20th anniversary, the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation strives more than ever to act boldly, generously and decisively.

The foundation’s efforts concentrate on four key objectives:

Supporting culture and sports in disadvantaged neighbourhoods

The foundation responds to the era’s major social challenges by nurturing success in deprived areas and helping to integrate individuals with disabilities into society via a focus on culture and sports to rally enthusiasm and create a spirit of solidarity.

Promoting diversity

The foundation encourages new works of literature, photography and music by awarding annual grants to young cultural and media professionals. It encourages forums that reveal fresh opportunities, and rewards excellence by proactively promoting diversity.

Giving France’s creative vitality worldwide exposure

The foundation seeks a global audience for the creative efforts of France’s young talents in the digital and performing arts, giving priority to cross-disciplinary works and programmes.

Civic commitment
The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, in partnership with Unis-Cité, a pioneering humanitarian organization active in Service Civil Volontaire (SCV – Voluntary Civic Service), made it possible for 24 young people from at-risk urban neighbourhoods, working in teams over a nine-month period, to conduct various public interest projects aimed at mitigating discrimination and exclusion, providing support for schoolchildren, the elderly and the disabled, and raising public awareness for ecologically responsible behaviour.
Ranging in age from 18 to 25, these young people are sponsored by Lagardère employees
