Hachette Livre, the sole shareholder of Editions JC Lattès, is pleased to announce the following appointments:

  • Laurent Laffont, currently Editorial Director, has been appointed CEO with effect from 1 July 2014.
  • Karina Hocine, currently Literary Director, has been promoted to Deputy CEO with effect from the same date.
  • Isabelle Laffont has been named President of Editions JC Lattès. She will pass on the operational management of the publishing house, which she has directed since 1995, to Laurent Laffont, and will continue to actively manage the French and international authors and agents with whom she has forged close ties throughout her publishing career.

JC Lattès, which publishes in all fields of contemporary inquiry, has enjoyed a number of noteworthy successes, including an Interallié prize awarded to Serge Bramly, two Booksellers prizes awarded to Marc Dugain and Delphine de Vigan, a bestselling novel by rising star Grégoire Delacourt, and two Nobel prizes awarded to Muhammad Yunus and Professor Luc Montagnier. Lattès is also the publisher of the historical mysteries of Jean-François Parot, the major novels of James Patterson and Stephenie Meyer’s works for adults. In 2013, the combined successes of the E.L. James’ trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey (which sold nearly 4,000,000 copies), Dan Brown’s new novel Inferno (800,000 copies sold) and Grégoire Delacourt’s hit novel, along with the brisk sales chalked up by Philippe Geluck’s essay Peut-on rire de tout? and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s autobiography, catapulted Lattès into the top tier of French general literature publishers. Among other things, 2014 will stand out for John Grisham’s debut at Lattès.

The JC Lattès publishing house was founded in 1968 and its backlist includes some 1,000 titles. Together with its subsidiary, Editions du Masque, an average of some 130 books are published annually.
