Nicolas Escoulan and Jean Philippe Balasse were appointed editorial directors of Europe 1 and Europe1.fr respectively, reporting to Fabien Namias, Europe 1’s chief executive officer and news director.

Bertrand Rutili was named deputy programme director, and will report to Bruno Gaston, senior executive officer in charge of broadcasting and programming.

Xavier Jolly, the station’s artistic director, will also assume responsibility for the production department and for broadcast coordination; he will report to Olivier Beneuf, Europe 1’s broadcasting director.

Nicolas Escoulan bio
After studying law and earning a degree in journalism from CFJ, Nicolas Escoulan joined the editorial staff of French television channel TF1 in 1999. After serving as a correspondent in the London office, he returned to Paris to join TF1's economics department; he then worked in the general news department and later the foreign news department as a special correspondent, producing two news programmes on the legal system. In 2007, he was assigned to the political department, where he covered the Elysée Palace. He left TF1 in 2008 to join pay-TV channel Canal+, where he produced weekly special reports on political topics for the programme Dimanche+. In 2011, he produced the documentary Un an avec DSK (A Year with Dominique Strauss-Kahn) for Canal+. From 2011 to 2013, he served as chief editor of Le Grand Journal. He was named deputy editorial director for Europe 1 in 2013.

Jean-Philippe Balasse bio
After graduating from the Paris Journalism Institute (IPJ) and the Sorbonne, Jean Philippe Balasse joined Europe 1 in 1994, where he held positions as reporter, host and chief editor of the morning show (2006-2010). From 2010 to the present, he served in New York as Europe 1's correspondent in the United States. Also between 2000 and 2004, he produced several special reports for TV for the programmes Expertise and C dans l'air, as well as a 52-minute documentary on the American elections. Since July 2012, he has served as deputy editorial director for Europe 1.

Bertrand Rutili bio
After serving as music programming manager and then as broadcasting director at Oui FM, Bertrand Rutili joined Europe 1 in 2008, in music programming. Since 2011, he has held the position of broadcast coordination manager.

Xavier Jolly bio
After serving as production manager at Europe 2, Xavier Jolly joined Europe 1 in 2006, where he held a similar position. He then led the redesign of the station's audio identity. Since 2008, he has been Europe 1's artistic director with responsibility for the station's audio and musical editorial policy.
