Lagardère group’s Legal Department: from Norbert Giaoui to Éric Thomas

After a long and brilliant career, entirely dedicated to the service of the Lagardère group, Norbert Giaoui has decided to step down from the role of General Counsel, which he has occupied for some twenty years.

The Managing Partners have decided to replace him in his role with Éric Thomas, 57, who will have the same title and position within the Group. Éric Thomas spent the first part of his professional career working directly with Norbert Giaoui at Lagardère for around a decade. In common with other members of the Group, he joined EADS when it was created, and became its first General Counsel. He was then appointed as General Counsel at Thales, and more recently at EDF. He will take over from Norbert Giaoui from 1 July.

Norbert Giaoui, with the title of Acting Director for the Managing Partners, will now work part time, bringing his expertise and experience to bear on a number of dossiers of general interest, which are handled directly by the Managing Partners.
