Winner of the 2014 Jean-Luc Lagardère prize

The 2014 Jean-Luc Lagardère Prize for Journalist of the Year was awarded today at Paris’s Maison des Centraliens by Denis Oliviennes, chairman and CEO of Lagardère Active, in the presence of guests who included Aurélie Filippetti, French Minister of Culture and Communication.

This year’s winner is Jean-Philippe Rémy (Le Monde), who was honoured for his quality reporting on the Syrian tragedy during 2013. The jury also recognized photographer Laurent Van der Stockt, who accompanied Rémy to the Syrian battle zones and whose photos are inseparable from Rémy’s work.

The winners, selected from among 167 nominees by a jury comprising 17 prominent journalists,* each received a cash prize of €10,000.
