Jonathan Eysseric : #1 worldwide in the Junior ITF rankings

Sixteen-year-old Jonathan Eysseric, a member of TeamLagardère, has just moved up to first place worldwide in the Junior ITF rankings. He thus becomes one of the youngest players in history to reach the summit of the world rankings.

The young member of the Paris Jean-Bouin club, born in 1990, stepped up to the highest position in the Junior ITF rankings following his quarterfinal win during the Grade A tournament in Casablanca two weeks ago. As a result, he will participate in the Australian Open next week as No. 1 seed and the world’s top-ranked player, and he has a very good chance of holding onto his position after the event, since he didn’t play the tournament in 2006.

After winning the European Championships for players 18 and under and the Grade A tournament in Milan last year, this year Jonathan is aiming for the Junior ITF world title, as well as victories during Grand Slam tournaments, titles already won by his TeamLagardère predecessors, Arnaud Di Pasquale (1997 World Champion), Paul-Henri Mathieu and Nicolas Mahut (the respective winners of the French Open and Wimbledon 2000), or players supported by TeamLagardère, such as Richard Gasquet, Gaël Monfils and Amélie Mauresmo (World Champions in 2002, 2004 and 1996).

At the same time, he will cross swords with the ATP circuit and try to pick up the precious points that will allow him to improve his world ranking of 1,248.

Jonathan, who trains with the TeamLagardère unit based in Sophia-Antipolis, also made a significant contribution to helping Paris Jean-Bouin win its third French Championship title, participating in four matches.
