ELLE celebrates a landmark issue

ELLE's 3,000th issue will be available at newsstands as of 30 June 2003… 3,000 weeks of touching women's lives… 3,000 encounters that have forged a special relationship between ELLE and the magazine's readers since it was first launched by Hélène Lazareff in November 1945.

With 3,000 issues to celebrate, this is the perfect time for ELLE to reminisce over its fondest memories and highlight all that defines the spirit of the magazine: "Our whims, our emotions, our dreams". Three covers have been compiled for the occasion, with Milla Jovovich photographed by Dominique Issermann, featuring three visions of femininity. ELLE's ideals are also showcased: objectivity and seduction, free and unabashed femininity, openness, dedication, humour and the ability to laugh at oneself.

Issue highlights include:

  • ELLE's first issue, republished in "mini" format
  • Eleven ELLE covers produced by eleven artists and designers (Louise Bourgeois, Starck, Plantu, Ben, Kiraz, etc.)
  • Audrey Marnay photographed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, for an emotion-filled experience
  • Plus, a behind-the-scenes look at the magazine, as if you were there, and our favourite features
