About Lagardere

Social commitments

  • The group's fundamental role in cultural affairs
    Lagardère's activities are an essential vector for culture and cultural diversity. As a major player in the media sector and in order to satisfy expectations and curiosity across the whole of society, Lagardère is committed to delivering to the public a wide variety of content through various means of production, broadcasting and consumption, thus supporting access to culture and promoting a diverse range of ideas and opinions.

    In addition, group companies regularly organize or participate in competitions, exhibitions and events aimed at promoting culture (for example, the Louis Hachette prize, the Grand Prize for Student Photo-Reportage supported by Paris Match, the prize for the best escapist novel (Prix du Roman d’Évasion) organized by Relay, the Readers' Prize awarded by Elle magazine, and so on.)

  • Other main areas of focus of the group's involvement in the wider society
    Alongside this fundamental role that the group plays on a daily basis in the course of its business, Lagardère demonstrates its commitment to society in two main ways:
    • the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation and
    • the promotion of sport in all its forms, notably through management of the Croix Catelan sports complex, the institutional partnership with the Club Omnisport Paris Jean-Bouin, the creation of a centre of scientific expertise applied to sport (TeamLagardère), and the organization of and/or participation in numerous sporting events.
    The group also demonstrates its commitment to civil society in a number of ways, in particular:
    • through making donations (or offering other forms of financial support) or by providing advertising space to organizations with a social or humanitarian purpose;
    • by promoting education, women (in particular through the Elle Corporate Foundation), freedom of the press, public health and child protection.
