About Lagardere

OUR APPROACH

Creating more meaningful businesses, fostering employees’ personal development at work, combining excellence with responsible eco-citizenship, and harmonizing pursuit of our objectives with respect for the planet: these are the values that motivate the Lagardère group, which has adopted a corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy that fulfils not only legal requirements but our own sustainable development goals as well.

Sustainable development is a shared responsibility within the Lagardère group, comprising fundamental values that we take into account in our daily activities and in interactions with partners.

In September 2008, a new Sustainable Development department was created within Group Human Resources and Communications. This department is responsible for initiating and directing deliberation processes involving the various divisions that have themselves created Sustainable Development departments.

In particular, this new department is in charge of a steering (CSR) committee, created by general management in 2004, whose responsibilities include:
  • Informing, raising awareness and mobilizing a network of contacts in the various divisions to deal with topics relating to our social, societal and environmental responsibilities.
  • Ensuring continuous improvement in company processes, particular those that involve:
    - Recognizing and sharing proven best practices.
    - Suggesting improvements for ongoing initiatives.
    - Making proposals regarding the launch of new initiatives.
    - Creating theme- and topic-based working groups.
    - Implementing, coordinating and improving reporting.
    - Communicating with ratings agencies and responding to any queries that involve CSR issues.

These tasks are carried out in collaboration with:

  • The Human Resources departments of our various companies and their teams, which are responsible for their own human-resource and social-responsibility reporting.
  • Corporate Affairs and our various divisions’ Technical Services departments, which are in charge of continuous improvement regarding environmental initiatives and take an active part in environmental reporting.

Our employees all participate in these efforts through their desire to express these increasingly important values in the workplace, through their professional activities and in their personal lives.
