2017 challenges

 Andrew Georgiou

ANDREW GEORGIOU

Chief Executive Officer,
Lagardère Sports
and Entertainment

WHAT WERE THE KEY HIGHLIGHTS FOR LAGARDÈRE SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT IN 2016?

2016 proved to be another big year for our company's football business globally. With the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament taking place in France, we delivered a unique experience for over one million fans at the official UEFA fan zone in Paris. In Africa, we brokered two deals which saw Total become the title sponsor for the Confédération Africaine de Football's (CAF) ten principal competitions, whilst Orange renewed its relationship with CAF and signed a new eight-year partnership as an official sponsor.

Our event management in golf also continued to go from strength to strength with the successful organisation of the PGA Tour-sanctioned Safeway Open in the Napa Valley, as well as the return of the Singapore Open sponsored by SMBC.

Finally, the Olympics also saw many of our teams contribute to the success of the Games on behalf of clients including the Australian Olympic Committee, French Olympic Committee, broadcasters across 40 European territories and over 1,500 hospitality clients.

WHAT ARE YOUR CHALLENGES AND PRIORITIES FOR 2017?

In 2017, we will continue the development of our portfolio in key areas including football, golf, Olympic sports and major events, media, brand consulting and digital services.

As the industry develops, we will continuously look to use our unique insights and expertise to bridge the gap between consumer trends, sponsorship opportunities and brands while continuing to provide our clients with integrated solutions to the challenges they face.

Overall, as our business continues to cement its leadership position, we expect 2017 to be another good year for the company. The market continues to remain strong and we are well placed within the market segment.
