Successful expansion into Asia and Oceania

Lagardère Services Asia-Pacific now has 140 retail outlets in four countries (Australia, China, Singapore and Taiwan) and serves over a million customers in the region’s main airports and travel terminals each month.

In addition to its own retail outlets under the Relay , Newslink, Watermark Books, Discover, Hub and Kaboom trade names, Lagardère Services now operates 21 outlets for the Purely group, in which it acquired a 51% stake on 1 March 2008.
These stores sell gifts and souvenirs plus distinctive clothing items marketed under own-brands Purely Australia and Purely Merino.

Diversifying into new business segments via strategic partnerships

With expanded development in mind, Lagardère Services is in the process of diversifying its historic business segments – particularly specialized retailing – by establishing various partnerships, with:

  • Paul in the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
  • Costa Coffee in the Czech Republic and Hungary.
  • Fashion accessories chain MOA in France, Romania and Bulgaria.
  • Casino in France, for a neighbourhood convenience-store project.
  • The Happy flower shop chain in Germany.
  • La Cure Gourmande candy shops in France and Spain.

These partnerships have enabled Lagardère Services to diversify its business by adding a new array of retailers and services targeted at travellers and neighbourhood customers.
